Well the Democratic National Convention is over and I can’t say that it is soon enough. If you watch any of MSNBC’s coverage, I’m sure you were as sick to your stomach as I was.

Between Keith Oberman and Chris Matthews, I don’t know which one would have been the first to lower themselves to the alter of Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

My guess is that they were trying to be as influential to the American public as Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are on the radio. The problem with their approach is that everything was either “fantastic” or “they hit the ball out of the park”.

With Rush and Glenn you can at least expect them to give the good the bad and the ugly.

Thomas Edison is probably rolling over in his grave with that performance from a company owned by General Electric.

I was actually embarrassed for Keith Oberman and Chris Matthews.

When I was listening to the acceptance speech by Barack Obama, he mentioned something about someone who lost their job and who was to help them. Were they to face it alone? Pick themselves up from their bootstraps. Or the person living in poverty… Were they to face it alone? Pick themselves up from the bootstraps.

Well as he was saying this, there was only one answer that kept resonating in my mind and that answer to those questions was…. YESSSSSSSSSSSS!

If they are going to rely on the government to do it for them, they are submitting themselves to a form of slavery! If they are relying on the government to make them happy, they are relying on an entity that can also take that happiness from them when it suited them to do so.

I can be honest with you, I have been a registered Republican for many years but I don’t like what I have been hearing from McCain either. He has been talking about social programs as well and it saddens me.

I’m waiting for any of the candidates to say, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country.”

Where is that focus?

Now a days, the new mantra, is “Who is going to hand me the most with little or no effort and that is the person who I am going to vote for.” or “Who is going to take from the rich and give me my fair share even though I haven’t earned it.”

We are in some perilous times and it is pretty scary. I hope you are not relying on the government for your happiness and I hope you are sharpening your skills to profitably serve the market you serve.
