Here we go, with the September 14th contract deadline looming, the heads at GM and UAW are sitting down to hammer out another contract for it’s Union workers.

As the story from MSNBC reports today, UAW President Ron Gettelfinger says the union is not prepared to make concessions. So it looks like the first shots have been fired.

As I personally have never believed in Labor Unions and the policy of compensation by demand, I feel no compassion for GM or Ford Motor Company because they bowed down to the union in the past when times where good because the profits were happening at that time.

It was short sighted on their end and they have to sleep in the beds they made.

When you step back and look at the whole picture it’s amazing because you would think that huge companies like GM and Ford would hire people who could look into the future a little better and have stopped this from happening to begin with.

As the union members started to make more money, Ford and GM had to start charging more for their vehicles every year at the expense of the American public.

But every year the American public payed more so I guess it worked for a time, but the the level of competition in America changed and the prices remained the same or got hire and the American buying public slowly started to buy other makes and models and the expense of running Ford and GM remained the same despite shrinking sales which brings us to the present day.

Now you have union workers who don’t want to make concessions and Ford and GM need them desperately to become profitable companies once again.

It looks like the unions have GM and Ford hanging over a barrel.

It will be interesting to see how this all pans out.

I will certainly do my best to keep you abreast of this developing story.
