This is an update to a news opinion story I wrote a couple of weeks ago .

Apparently according the sources at MSNBC, steroids were found in the toxicology reports done on Chris Benoit, along with Xanax, an anti-anxiety drug.

Chris Benoit was driven, and obviously he drove himself to murder and eventually to kill himself. He was so driven that he took steroids in an effort to enhance his performance as a professional wrestler with the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) company.

Now here’s the million dollar question, “Who is responsible for this heinous event?”

Is it the WWE? The company he worked for, where to competition for the fans loyalty is ratings and sales of product licensed by the WWE. Did Vince McMahon and his top people turn a blind eye to the use of steroids in his company or do they test on a regular basis for steroid use like he mentioned in the interview that he had shortly after this murder suicide was reported.

Was it Chris Benoit’s doctor, who illegally prescribed these drug’s for him? Did Dr. Phil Astin hold a gun to Chris Benoit’s head and force him to go to the pharmacy to get these drugs. And further more did he force Chris Benoit to take them.

I’m going to be honest with you, I couldn’t possible imagine the pressure these wrestlers are under to perform in their chosen field of work, I’m sure the pressure is pretty extreme and I’m sure as with other contact professions, such as football and the like, I’m sure some of these athletes  chose to work with injuries because they need the cash flow their work provides.

But how is that any different than the worker in the factory who also uses his body physically and works with injuries because he needs the cash flow.

The fact is we all make choses.

We all are responsible for our lives no matter what line of work we decide to chose.

It’s my opinion that the only person responsible for this event is Chris Benoit and this comes from a fan of his.

We all have choses and we have to live with or in this case die with the  choses we make.

As this is certainly a horrible event and one that needs to be studied, we need to look for the lessons from this event that can make a positive difference in our lives.

I think the main thing is responsibility. Personal Responsibility.

I’m curious to your thoughts on this story.
